Powerful Schools; Powerful Purpose: Assumptions, Struggles and Promises to Keep

This program will provide a provocative analysis of the real achievement, economic, and citizenship gap in America and what students, faculty, parents, and community members can do to deliver on the promise of public education. The conventional wisdom about schools, education, curriculum, technology, economic stratification, and student achievement must be replaced with a deeper understanding of the role of education, the capacity of educators, and ways of intellectually challenging all students to connect learning to an ever changing future and a revitalized democratic society for all. The workshop will conclude with participants planning purposeful actions within their own school/community.
